Murder accused remanded in custody

A 24-year-old Waterford man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a father-of-one in June.

John Flaherty of Ard Daire, Ferrybank appeared before Waterford District Court this morning in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Patrick Murphy on June 20.

Mr Flaherty has also been charged with assault causing harm to Amy Quigley, a mother of three who was also in the house at the time of the attack.

He has been remanded in custody to appear for trial before the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court.
