No cuts in health and education in North

Health and Education departments in the North are to be protected from the cuts of nearly £128m (€154.2m) imposed by central government, it emerged today.

In a letter sent to Assembly members by Finance Minister Sammy Wilson, he revealed the Executive has decided to impose some of the savings now, with £45.1m (€54.3m) to be dealt with at a later date.
