Capital spending plan to be finalised today

The Cabinet will meet today for the last time before the summer break to sign off on the final details of the revised €39bn capital spending plan.

Ministers will also make further preparations for the December budget in a bid to reduce the deficit by €3bn - with health, social welfare and education likely to be hardest hit.
