Man fights for life after late-night assault in Cork

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Cork city the early hours of this morning.

The man suffered serious head wounds when a row broke out in a house in Roman Street in the city at around 4am.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Gardaí are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.
