New event centre to open in September in Cork

Cork is to get a new event 40,000 sq ft centre which can cater for concerts, trade shows and any other large event.

The 5,000-seat ARC is set to open its doors in Cork this September, playing host to concerts, events and conferences.

It will be located close to Pairc Ui Chaoimh, with promoters promising it will be bigger than the main hall of Dublin's RDS.

Bill Cremin from the ARC said that for now, they will use a semi-permanent structure as "an interim solution". Planning permission has been secured.
