Gardaí investigate armed raid in Longford

Gardaí in Longford are investigating an armed raid at the Ulster Bank in Granard.

Gardaí in Longford are investigating an armed raid at the Ulster Bank in Granard.

The raid happened yesterday evening, just as the bank was closing.

Three men, armed with a gun and a knife, entered the bank and demanded money.

A member of staff was assaulted and the raiders made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The injured man was taken to Mullingar General Hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí at Granard.
