Man charged with dangerous driving after injury to garda near Oxegen

A man has appeared before a special sitting of Naas District Court after an incident outside the Oxegen music festival in Co Kildare in which a garda was injured.

Twenty-year-old Shane Hanberry from Cloone Moore Park in Tallaght has been charged with dangerous driving. He has been remanded in custody to appear before Naas Court again next week.

Just before 2am today, a garda was injured when a car failed to stop at a checkpoint set up outside the Punchestown venue.

The car was stopped shortly afterwards and three men were arrested. Two were released without charge.

The garda received six stitches at Naas General Hospital and was later discharged.
