FF TDs to oppose property tax
A group of Fianna Fáil TDs are to formally oppose plans for a new property tax at tonight's Fianna Fail parliamentary party meeting.
The TDs - mostly from Dublin- have tabled a motion calling on Finance Minister Brian Lenihan not to introduce a property tax in December's Budget.
Many have concerns that its introduction could bring the Government down.
However, supporters of the tax believe a regular annual levy on residential property is better than a large, one-off bill in the form of stamp duty.
