Lenihan to appear before Oireachtas Committee today

Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Service today.

Mr Lenihan will discuss the terms of reference of the Commission of Investigation into the banking crisis and related matters.

Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee Michael Ahern said its clear there are lessons to be learned from mistakes made in the past and the recent reports from Central Bank Governor Patrick Honohan provide a basis for further investigation into the causes of the banking crisis.

The hearing has been re-scheduled after Minister Lenihan took ill last week.
