Group launches event to raise awareness of play benefits
To coincide with National Play Day, which is taking place across the country this afternoon, the Play Alliance is calling on the Government to draw up a new play policy to replace the current one.
The Alliance says a new policy is urgently needed to ensure that children have equal access to a high standard of play opportunities.
The nationwide event aims to raise awareness of the benefits of play for children in Ireland and to give a voice to their right to play.
Anne O'Brien, Play Development officer for Dublin City Council, says playing is a vital part of learning.
