Finance Minister Brian Lenihan today said figures showing Ireland emerging from recession provided concrete evidence that Government steps to tackle public finances and the banking system were paying off.

Minister Lenihan was responding to new data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showing GDP rising by 2.7% in the first three months of 2010, compared with the final three months of last year.
