Unite to accept Croke Park deal

The Unite union is to accept the Croke Park deal on public sector pay and reform in an apparent u-turn.

The union, which represents 6,000 public sector workers, previously rejected the deal, but said it is entering the implementation process to avoid "victimisation of its members".

In a statement the union said it is "acting against the backdrop of the Irish Congress of Trade Union's acceptance of the deal" and its members did consider withdrawing from ICTU's public sector committee but "decided against it".

The union will not be polling members for a second time on the matter.
