Government blocks by-election for Lee's vacant seat

The Government has today rejected proposals by the Labour Party to hold the Dublin South by-election.

The Opposition party has moved a motion in the Dáil seeking to force the Government to fill the seat vacated by the former Fine Gael TD George Lee.
