Dublin’s stylish Grafton Street was today revealed as the public’s favourite thoroughfare in the capital.

Its famous buskers, who entertain throngs of tourists and shoppers, and its exclusive stores ensured the area remained a firm favourite with Dubliners and visitors.

More than 3,000 Facebook and Twitter users visited the Favourite Dublin Street page, with the vast majority choosing Grafton Street as their top choice.

The poll was held by Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) to mark the launch of the new OSi Dublin Street Guide.

The new guide features a number of significant additions to the Dublin streetscape such as the Dublin Convention Centre, the Grand Canal Theatre and the Aviva Stadium.

Changes to the city’s transport infrastructure include the extension of the Luas to the O2 Venue, the Dublin Bike stations and the Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Geraldine Ruane, OSi chief executive, said the new guide is popular and useful for Dubliners, tourists, taxi drivers and emergency services.

“It was important for us to update the Dublin Street Guide because Dublin has changed so much recently,” she said.

“OSi is happy to play its part to support our tourist industry and we hope the new Dublin Street Guide will prove as popular as ever.”

Elsewhere a night-time shot of an illuminated Croke Park and its surrounding streets by Daithi Galvin won an online essay/photo competition run by the OSi.
