Man still in custody over 'tiger' kidnapping
A man remains in Garda custody this morning in connection with a tiger kidnapping in Dublin yesterday.
A bank worker's wife was held hostage at gunpoint before being freed in Co Meath.
Up to five people, some of them armed, called to the couple's home in Ballyfermot at around 6.30am yesterday morning.
They kidnapped the woman and ordered her husband to go to his place of work at the Ulster Bank, take the cash, and await further instructions.
It is understood the bank worker followed detailed rules on how to deal with tiger kidnappings and detective units were alerted.
The woman was freed unharmed at around 12pm yesterdaty in Steeplechase Court in Fairyhouse, Co Meath.
A short time later, officers from the Organised Crime Unit and the Emergency Response Unit arrested a man in his 20s in Kimmage in Dublin
He is being held at Crumlin Garda Station under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be detained for up to a week.
