Green light for Dublin 'superdump'

The Environmental Protection Agency has given the go-ahead for a major landfill and recycling facility in north Co Dublin.

More than 250 conditions have been attached to the licence, covering the environmental management, operation and control of the facility.

The dump, located in the townland of Nevitt close to Lusk, will have a maximum intake of half a million tonnes of residual waste every year.

In a statement this morning, the EPA said it is satisfied the facility will not adversely affect human health or the environment.
