Gardaí in Limerick have released without charge a man in his 20s who was being questioned in connection with the shooting of Daniel Philips on Monday night.

A man and a woman are stil being held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Twenty-year-old Daniel Phillips from Ballinacurra Weston is being treated for his injuries at Cork University Hospital.

He was shot in the head and body as he sat in a car in the St Johns Square area of Limerick City.
