Pilot scheme to test parking levy in coming months

Nearly two years after it was first announced, it looks like the €200 parking levy could finally make its first appearance this summer.

The rate is to be imposed on workers in urban areas who currently enjoy a free parking space.

It is now expected to be introduced on a pilot basis in Dublin over the coming months, before being rolled out in other cities around the country.

If an employer does not impose the levy on their workers through their payroll system, they could face fines of up to €3,000.
