Clare: Gardaí investigate after man has finger cut off

A garda investigation is underway into a serious assault in Co Clare.

Units of the armed Regional Support Unit were called in after a very serious attack on a man collecting his children from school.

The man had his face slashed and one of his fingers cut off.

It is understood the man was set upon by a group of men armed with various weapons, including a machete, on the Kilrush Road shortly after 3pm yesterday.

It is understood the assault is related to an on-going feud between families.
