Man in court over young father's murder

A man was remanded in custody today in connection with the murder of a father of two.

Robert Egan was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at Oakview Way, Hartstown, on July 4 last year.

The 26-year-old, of Dromheath Avenue, Mulhuddart, Dublin 15, was remanded in custody for three days.

The accused was arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Wayne Doherty.

The innocent 32-year-old father was shot dead outside his parents’ home in Hartstown after he attempted to stop a dispute.

Mr Egan appeared briefly before Judge Patrick McMahon, sitting at a District Court in Blanchardstown.

The court heard the suspect made no reply when charged and no application for bail was made.

He will reappear in Cloverhill Courthouse on Thursday.
