Gardaí are calling for a change in the rules which prevent them from taking on certain types of second job to boost their take-home pay.

At the moment they are barred from taking up positions in the security industry in thier own time. They are also prevented from working as a barman or a bouncer.

The motion is one of 20 up for discussion at the Annual Conference of the Garda Representative Association.
