Taoiseach: Geoghegan-Quinn pension her own business

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said it is a matter for Maire Geoghegan-Quinn herself to decide what to do over her pension situation.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said it is a matter for Maire Geoghegan-Quinn herself to decide what to do over her pension situation.

Mr Cowen's comments come after Minister Eamon O'Cuiv indicated that he believed the European Commissioner should consider her pension.

The minister was responding to ICTU's calls for public representatives to give up their State pension if they are also earning a salary.

Ms Geoghegan-Quinn's pension is worth about €100,000, while she earns about €240,000.
