Two killed in road accidents
Two people have been killed in overnight traffic accidents.
A 73-year-old woman died following a two-car collision in Louth and a 63-year-old male pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Roscommon.
Shortly before midnight last night two cars collided at Rathgory in Ardee.
The driver of one of cars was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the second car sustained minor injures in the crash.
The main N2 road remains closed and diversions are in place.
Elsewhere, gardaà in Roscommon are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was struck by a car shortly after 3am at Springfield in Elphin,
The 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
