Court proceedings against a former FÁS manager accused of defrauding the state training agency was put back until June today.

James Brooke-Tyrell (aged 53) of Church Gate, Church Road, Greystones, Co Wicklow, is facing 47 counts of deception by manufacturing a false tender at the agency.

The ex-assistant video production manager, based at FÁS headquarters in Upper Baggot Street, Dublin, was charged with defrauding more than €600,000 through cheques being issued into accounts controlled by him from 2002 to 2008.

Judge Katherine Delahunt, at the Circuit Criminal Court, put the case back until June 15.

Brooke-Tyrell was also charged last November with an extra 33 counts for forgery of quotations on headed paper of a number of companies, on dates between 2003 and 2008.
