Crunch negotiations between Anglo-Irish Bank officials and the Financial Regulator about a potential takeover of the beleaguered Quinn Insurance firm ended tonight without resolution.

Talks are set to resume tomorrow with the state-owned bank still hopeful of striking a deal before a crucial High Court hearing on Monday, when the troubled arm of the Quinn Group could be put into permanent administration.
