The Health Service Executive has said discussions have reopened with the operators of a cancer care service in the South East in a bid to resolve a dispute which would see treatment stopped for public patients.

The UPMC Whitfield Centre in Waterford said yesterday it would withdraw radiotherapy care for new public patients from the end of the month after negotiations with the HSE failed to secure a new contract.
