Stranded family rescued in Tyrone

A family has been rescued after becoming trapped in their home in Co Tyrone.

Heavy snow left the parents and young children stranded in Plumbridge, running out of food and gas.

The adults managed to make it through eight feet of snow to rescue jeeps by foot - but the young children had to be airlifted to safety.

Meanwhile the ESB is to send some of its technicians to help deal with storm repair work in the North.

Thousands of homes were left without power following high winds and snow over the past few days.

Some 25 ESB crews are being deployed to Antrim and Derry.
