GUH overcrowing problems continue
All elective admissions at University Hospital Galway have been cancelled again today as problems with overcrowding at the facility continue.
Staff say the are struggling to cope with a crisis situation in the emergency department which yesterday saw 30 patients on trollies.
The INMO says its' members are trying to provide care in what it describes as an "impossible situation" because of bed closures and reduced capacity in the wards.
The union is calling for a lifting of a moratorium on hiring frontline staff to relieve the pressure.
