Priest: Ruling has changed Good Friday forever

A Catholic priest has said Good Friday has been forever changed by a court ruling which allows pubs to open on the holy day for the first time.

Father Adrian Egan from the Redempterist Order in Limerick had hoped the Magners League game between Munster and Leinster would be moved to another day to avoid clashing with the day.

Vintners in Limerick successfully argued that match constituted a special event, which allowed for an exemption.

Pubs will now open before, during and after the April 2 sell-out clash.
