A transatlantic jet was forced to return to Dublin Airport today after experiencing a number of technical problems after take off.

The Continental Airlines flight to Newark was also forced to abort two landings at Dublin because of strong crosswinds.

The airline says the flight returned to Dublin because of problems with an auxiliary power unit and an engine bleed-air issue.

The jet landed safely shortly before 1pm.
