Tallaght Hospital board to issue statement later
The board of Tallaght hospital is set to issue a statement later in relation to the X-ray scandal at the facility.
At a meeting last night, chairman Lyndon McCann rejected calls for his resignation and staunchly defended the way hospital management dealt with the problem once its scale became known.
It emerged last week that almost 58,000 X-rays were not read by a consultant radiologist over a four-year period, while it was also revealed that at one stage thousands of GP referral letters were left unopened.
