A new volunteer service which aims to give free hospital transport for cancer patients is being rolled out nationwide by the Irish Cancer Society.

A new volunteer service which aims to give free hospital transport for cancer patients is being rolled out nationwide by the Irish Cancer Society.

The society's teaming up with Tesco to organise charity collections to fund the expansion of the 'Care to Drive' scheme.

The initiative, which was set up in June 2008 in Dublin, sees trained volunteers collect the patients from their homes and drive them to and from their appointments.
