Gardaí investigate 'tiger kidnapping' in Louth

Gardaí are investigating the abduction of a shopkeeper and his wife in Co Louth this morning.

At around 6am, a gang of armed and masked men confronted the shopkeeper who was out for a walk near his home in Dunleer at the time.

They forced him to go to go to the post office in Castlebellingham which adjoins his shop and take €100,000 to a pre-arranged location nearby.

His wife was released a short time later.

A full investigation is underway and gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
