The brother of Hamas militant killed in Dubai has called on Ireland to ‘punish Israel’ if it is found that its secret service is responsible for using Irish passports in the assassination of his brother Mahmoud AL-Mabhouh.
Speaking from his home in Gaza , Fayeq Al-Mahbouh says the fraudulent use of Irish passports amounts to an attack on Irish sovereignty and to the Irish people.
He also says that Ireland and Palestine have shared political experiences and would like to thank the Irish people for its support especially its condemnation of Israel’s war last year.
Meanwhile, Dubai media reports are now saying that up to seven Irish passports involved were involved in the assassination.
A spokesperson from the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs says it cannot rule out the possibility of further developments in the passport case, following the Dubai reports.
It is understood that Dubai authorities have been slow to share information with the Irish Government throughout the case.
