Garda files have been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions following the detention of a man and a woman in Limerick yesterday in connection with the murder of Francie Greene.

Garda files have been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions following the detention of a man and a woman in Limerick yesterday in connection with the murder of Francie Greene.

Mr Greene, from Hartstonge Street in Limerick, was found dead on the banks of the River Shannon near Cratloe in Co Clare two weeks ago.

He had been missing since last November.

A man and a woman arrested yesterday in Limerick as part of the murder probe were released without charge last night.

Gardaí are awaiting correspondence from the DPP on whether any charges will be brought.
