Twenty-four Irish Catholic bishops will travel to Rome this weekend for a Vatican summit on the issue of clerical child sex abuse.

The meetings involving Pope Benedict, senior church figures and an entire Bishops’ Conference are expected to take place on Monday and Tuesday.

The summit comes in the wake of the publication of the Ryan report last May and the Murphy report last November.
