George Lee believed he would be on a pedestal in the Dáil and everyone would go to him for instruction, according to his former Fine Gael colleague Leo Varadkar.

Mr Varadkar believes the former Economics Correspondent quit the party and his seat because "his ego wasn't satisfied by the reality of the job".
