Man charged with sexual abuse and ill-treatment of boy

The trial of a man charged with the sexual abuse and ill-treatment of a boy will begin at the Central Criminal Court this morning.

The 52-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to 47 charges of sexually assaulting the child and one charge of the wilful neglect or ill-treatment of the same boy on dates between April 11, 2001 and June 23, 2004.
