Minister urges public to use Crimestoppers service

The Justice Minister is today urging the public to make greater use of the Crimestoppers phone service.

Dermot Ahern said it is a confidential way for people to report crime to the Gardaí and to alert them to suspicious activities.

Launching the new website, Crimestoppers.ie, the Minister said the phone line - 1800 25 00 25 - is playing an increasingly valuable role in fighting crime.

Mr Ahern also says the sponsorship of rewards by the Crimestoppers Trust for vital information on particular crimes has been invaluable to the Gardaí.
