More aid leaves Ireland for Haiti

An extra 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been pledged by Ireland today for Haiti.

An extra 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been pledged by Ireland today for Haiti.

Minister for Overseas Development Peter Power has announced that the second consignment will be distributed among aid agencies on the ground.

The aid includes plastic sheeting and tents for shelter, water containers and sanitation equipment.

So far, the Government has donated a total of €3m to the relief effort in Haiti.
