Suspended controllers reinstated

Fourteen air traffic controllers suspended from duty have been reinstated.

Their suspension sparked a major dispute earlier this week which left flights grounded on Wednesday.

It follows seven hours of negotiations between the IMPACT trade union and the Irish Aviation Authority at the Labour Court today.

The union has agreed to cooperate with new work practices and has agreed there will be no further industrial action while the negotiations continue.

The talks will resume next Tuesday.

In a statement the Irish Aviation Authority said it was "very pleased" that at the development.

"There will now be a full resumption of normal working by air traffic controllers with immediate effect and there will be no industrial action of any kind," the statement said.

"IMPACT has withdrawn its objection to participation in the project work giving rise to this dispute.

"Labour Court hearings next week will address all three issues (pay, pensions, and project work)."
