Twenty-five tonnes of Irish aid to land in Haiti tonight

A consignment of humanitarian aid is on its way to Haiti from Ireland.

The 25 tonnes of food and medical supplies - worth €200,000 - will arrive in the Dominican Republic tonight before being transported over land.

A group of Goal volunteers are also travelling on the Aer Lingus flight to help in the relief efforts following last week's devastating earthquake.

The aid agency's Chief Executive John O'Shea is also travelling to the Carribean island.
