Man questioned after street stabbing
A man was being questioned by murder squad detectives today after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death.
The attack took place in the village of Lattin, Co Tipperary at about 9.30pm last night, on the street outside the dead man’s house after a row broke out.
Gardaí said the man died at the scene.
The arrested man, in his 40s, was detained a short time after the attack and was being held under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Detectives at Tipperary garda station are investigating.
The killing was the second stabbing death during the weekend after a talented young footballer was knifed in a row over loud music at an apartment complex.
Warren O’Connor (aged 24) a former soldier, was visiting the Beeches complex in Donaghmede, north Dublin when an argument over noise broke out at about 1am on Saturday morning.
The dispute spilled outside and the two groups involved got into a pair of cars which crashed a short distance away on the Hole in the Wall Road.
Mr O’Connor, who was travelling in one of the vehicles, was knifed near the scene of the crash and later died.
