Gardaí release woman in connection with Longford assault

A woman in her twenties arrested in connection with the death of a man in Longford town last night has been released without charge.

A man in his twenties being questioned over the incident remains in Garda custody.

Meanwhile, a post mortem examination has been carried out on the body of the man who died following last night's assault.

59-year-old Noel Keegan and his wife were walking to meet friends for a drink at around 9.45pm yesterday when he was involved in a row with two people.

The father-of-three was treated at the scene but died a short time later.

It is understood he suffered from an underlying heart condition.
