Elderly woman assaulted in Galway burglary

Gardaí are appealing for the public's help following an aggravated burglary at a house on Shantalla Road, Galway City today.

At around 12.30pm this afternoon a man entered the home of an 80-year-old woman.

The woman was assaulted during the burglary, before managing to raise the alarm.

The culprit is described as tall, approximately six foot in height, clean shaven, with short dark hair, and aged in his early 20s.

Gardaí at Mill Street in Galway want to talk to anyone who was in the vicinity of Shantalla Road between 11pm and 2am.
