Gardaí report sharp rise in stabbing deaths

There has been a sharp increase in the number of people killed in knife attacks this year with a lesser rise in the number of people killed in gun attacks.

According to garda figures in the violent death list, 22 people have been killed in knife attacks so far this year compared with 15 in 2008.
