Investigations continue into major Longford blaze

Investigations are continuing today into what fire fighters say is one of the biggest fires in Longford in years.

A major blaze ripped through St Mel's Cathedral in the early hours of Christmas morning.

The iconic building was destroyed in the fire which broke out at the back of the cathedral and quickly engulfed the building.

Technical experts will carry out more examinations at the scene today.
