Murder probe launched after teen falls from apartment

A murder probe was launched after a teenager fell from a ninth storey apartment in a city centre, police in the North said.

James Murray, 19, from Glendowan Grove, in the Lagmore area of Belfast, was found dead outside the building in King Street just before 6am on Saturday.

A man and woman were arrested in the wake of the discovery after police deemed the incident suspicious.

And last night officers officially launched a murder inquiry.

The 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman remain in custody and police applied to the courts to extend their detention.

Meanwhile, two men were arrested after a man’s body was discovered in a house in Co Tyrone.

The dead man, who was aged 29, was found at a property in the Tullywiggan area of Cookstown shortly after 11am yesterday.

One of the men was later charged with the possession, preparation and supply of heroin.

The 29-year-old accused will appear in court in Dungannon this morning while the second man – a 23-year-old – was released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police released no other details about the circumstances of the death or the identity of the deceased.
