No breakthrough in talks on public pay cuts

Talks between public sector unions and the Government aimed at averting another day of strike action next Thursday have continued through the night, but without breakthrough being reached.

Time is running out for both sides to reach agreement on how to reduce next year's public sector pay bill by €1.3bn.
