Emergency chiefs say some stability is emerging in the flooding crisis across the country, as drier weather conditions come.

But it could take up to three weeks for normal water levels to return to the areas along the River Shannon.

Some concern is being expressed about icy weather due over the weekend and high tides next week.

The National Emergency Response Co-ordination Committee has met again this afternoon.
